Q. What Haitian Communities does The 610 Project Work in?

A. The 610 Project works in Croix des Bouquets and Les Cayes.

 

Q. What does The 610 Project Do IN Each community?

A. In Croix des Bouquets, The 610 Project supports educational initiative at an existing school of over 500 students (Ecole Shalom @ Haitian American Caucus), offers student sponsorships, and operates a growing microenterprise program providing part-time work for teens.

In Les Cayes, we are working to build a new school campus to provide education for 250 students annually. We are actively bringing clean water into this community, as well as providing support for a sewing microenterprise which provides nearly full-time employment for over 30 women and men.

Q. What type of “educational initiatives?”

A. Students at Haitian American Caucus are currently given the chance to participate in:

  • Bike Share Program— bringing both recreation and transportation to students.

  • Yearbook Staff— providing students experience and training in writing, editing, photography, etc.

  • Concert Band/Music Education

 

Q. Do you take volunteers to Haiti with you?

A. We do! Travel opportunities will be posted on social media accounts, so please follow along there to stay in the know.
