Our Story

I am Marica Pook, MD,

an internal medicine physician based in Boulder, Colorado. In April 2022, I embarked on my first medical mission to Ukraine. Together with my brother-in-law Mike, we flew to Warsaw carrying 10 duffel bags filled with surgical instruments and ICU level medications. Despite Kyiv being under siege at the time, we managed to deliver the supplies to the city.

During my mission, I worked at a medical clinic located on the Ukraine-Poland border crossing. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience, as I was able to provide much-needed medical care to the people there.

In addition to my time on the ground, my family and friends helped me send three more shipments of medical supplies, including instruments, dressings, body armor, and humanitarian aid, to Ukraine. The experience was truly life-changing for me, and I am excited to continue my medical mission work for years to come.

Once there, they delivered medical supplies, along with body armor and tactical gear that were donated by the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and the Boulder Police Department.Dr. Pook gave the gear to Ukrainian women fighting in the war efforts. The women will use it for protection as they deliver supplies to areas under fire. The medical supplies were given to Ukrainian doctors.”
